After visiting The photography Show last week I was inspired to make a couple of changes with regards to my photography on my return home.
The first thing I realised was that I don’t take enough pictures for ‘me’ anymore. Most of my work is done for someone else’s wants/needs. So I have decided that from the Start of April 2015 I will take and post at least one image a month just for me.
This will be a photograph of my choosing and of whatever subject takes my fancy (at the time ) in a hope that it will help me rediscover my art, get my creative juices flowing again and inspire me to produce some new images worthy of showing to the world.
Secondly and this was one of the biggest decisions I have made for a long time. I have decided to change my entire set up. Cameras, lenses, Flashes, Printers The whole lot!
As I mentioned this was not a decision I took lightly, I’ve been debating this in my head for the past week.
After visiting the show and looking around the stands, speaking to and listening to fellow Pros I returned home torn between two minds.
Do I Change my kit or don’t I?
So after thinking it all over in my head and looking at my beloved Camera kit I went to bed that evening having decided that I was keeping my set up, maybe even buy a couple of new bits of kit…
I was adamant.
BUT upon awaking the next morning I was again unsure and by the end of the second day I decided I was changing my kit.
This went on for the whole of last week one day YES the next day NO. Until finally I locked myself in a quiet room with a pen and some paper.
I spent well over an hour in there. I did the usual two columns with ‘pros’ and ‘cons’ weighed up the cost involved and whether my budget would cover it, ripped up the paper and started again, changed my mind a hundred times but when I left the room it was with a clear head and knowing that now was the right time to change my whole set up.
So it is with a heavy heart that I end my love affair with Canon.
Thanks for the memories. We had some amazing times together, travelled the world and covered some great subjects but after 11 years, four different DSLR bodies, numerous lenses and ££££’s spent it is time to say goodbye.
Everything is up for sale on eBay and my shiny new Sony mirrorless camera system is on order.
So watch this space for as from next week I will start posting my images, taken for me and with my new Camera set up. Exciting times ahead ?
